Omkareshwar – City in Shape of Om (ॐ)

Omkareshwar is situated between the rivers Narmada and Kaveri, this holy city Omkareshwar geography is shaped in the form of ‘Om’ (Hindu religious symbol), because of the merging of two valleys with a central pool of Narmada river.

The city derives its name from word ‘Omkara’ which is another name of Lord Shiva. Omkareshwar is the land where one of the 12 revered Jyotirlingas. Thousands of people visit here to experience ultimate peace and to have blessings of Lord Shiva.

Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple One of the purest shrines in India, the Omkareshwar temple is among the twelve jyotirlingas in India. This temple is located on an island known as Mandhata which is the meeting point of the rivers Narmada and Kaveri. Along with the religious values, Omkareshwar has some of the stunning architectures and houses beautiful engravings.

Kedareshwar Temple

Kedareshwar Temple was built in the 11th century, which is one of the most prominent shrines in Madhya Pradesh. The religious and beautiful sightseeing the significance of the place attracts people from all over the world. 

Parikrama (परिक्रमा) on the island 

This is the path which leads to spiritual purification of a human body. As per the mythology, completing a revolution around this positive source of energy gives inner peace makes you mentally strong. This is considered a sacred thing. This stretch is of nearly 8 km and can be completed easily. 

Siddhanath Temple

Siddhanath Temple is located near the Omkar Mandhata temple, this is a 13th-century built temple which is architecturally very rich and appraising.

If you are coming to explore Madhya Pradesh, you can not miss this holy and rich in culture place. Visit this place in the endings of years, in the month of October to December as this place’s temperature raises in summers.
